How a long-distance move works

  1. Inventory walkthrough — in-person or video call. Item-level list, not a guess.
  2. Binding estimate — written, signed, locked. That’s the price.
  3. Pickup day — load, tag inventory, certified weight ticket if needed for military.
  4. Transit — defined delivery window, contact reachable.
  5. Delivery — same crew (when feasible), inventory check-off, no day-of surprises.

What we don’t do

We don’t broker your move to a stranger. Some ‘long-distance movers’ are really sales companies that subcontract to whoever picks up the load. Your stuff ends up on a truck you didn’t book, with a crew you didn’t meet. We move your stuff with our own crew.

FAQ

What's a binding estimate and why does it matter?

A binding estimate locks the price before pickup. Whatever number you sign — that's the number you pay on delivery, regardless of how the move actually unfolds. The alternative (non-binding) lets the mover inflate the price after they have your stuff. We do binding only, on every long-distance move.

How long does a long-distance move take?

From San Diego: Arizona destinations 3–5 days typical, Texas 5–8 days, Midwest 7–10 days, East Coast 10–14 days. You get a defined delivery window before pickup, not a vague 'sometime in the next few weeks.'

What's the difference between USDOT and MC numbers?

USDOT is the federal motor carrier identifier; MC is the operating authority granted by FMCSA for household goods specifically. You need both for legal interstate household-goods moves. We carry both. Verify at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov.

Is my stuff insured during transit?

Yes — cargo insurance is included. Additional valuation (full-replacement coverage) is available if you want to protect high-value items. Discussed upfront, not after damage.

Can you store my stuff if my new place isn't ready?

Yes. We offer short-term storage between origin and destination — common when closings get delayed or PCS dates shift. Climate-aware facility, monthly billing.

Where are you headed?

Tell us the destination, the size, the date. We’ll quote a binding estimate. (619) 567-5497.
